Adult Learning Coaches (Tutors)

Unlock Your Potential!

Taber & District Adult Learning volunteers support adult learners in Taber, the MD of Taber and the County of Warner to meet their learning goals.  We have volunteer representatives throughout this geographical area. Learning Coaches help Learners in any of the following ways:

  • English literacy skills, like reading and writing.
  • English conversation skills at all levels.
  • Math, Social Studies and Science skills.
  • Computer and digital skills.
  • Support with exam preparation, like high school equivalency exams, Canadian Citizenship exams and Driver’s Licenses.

Is this a fit for you?

Learner support can be done in person, virtually, or in a classroom setting where the Learner attends classes offered by Taber Adult Learning.  The time commitment varies, as some Learners just need short term support, while others need a longer-term support, usually up to four months. Learning Coaches meet up with their Learners at our offices in Taber or at rural libraries, and sessions usually last approximately 1 hour, once a week.

This is for anyone who values learning, and believes that the road to independence and success begins with literacy.  Volunteers don’t require any formal teaching experience – we provide the training and support needed to be successful in this role.
