Family Literacy

Children who begin life in a learning environment are more likely to succeed in school and in life and parents are their first teachers. Our programs provide parents with the tools they need to support their children’s early language and literacy development.

Taber and District Community Adult Learning Association, in partnership with the Family Centre Lethbridge, Barons-Eureka-Warner, and Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) offer programs in a variety of locations for families to expand their literacy skills.

Our ‘Read and Rhyme’ program is a fun combination of songs, books, rhymes and crafts for preschool age children and their parents. The program provides parents and their children an enjoyable bonding experience that promotes singing and reading at home. Learners in our Families Learning Together also participate in “Read and Rhyme” incorporated with ESL training and childcare programs.
